Serologie
Op de afdeling serologie vindt bloedonderzoek plaats. Het bloed wordt onderzocht op de hoeveelheid antistoffen, bloedgaswaardes (oa CO2) en hematologische parameters (oa het aantal rode en witte bloedcellen).
De hoeveelheid antistoffen in bloed worden met behulp van ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay), SPA (Snelle plaat agglutinatie) en AGP (Agar Gel Precipatie) bepaald.
Door de hoeveelheid antistoffen te bepalen is het mogelijk aan te tonen of een diersoort een ziekte doormaakt, een enting goed is aangeslagen of er geënt moet worden tegen een bepaalde ziekte.
